Willow is an open structured wood and makes charcoal that just wants to get hot hot hot.  It's a superb charcoal and a great choice if you want a large direct heat area for your cook but don’t want the charcoal to burn for long. For quick grills and burger nights it's absolutely your friend. For low and slow, look to other charcoals like a Mixed Species bag, Oak, Beech or Ash.
